· Course Description:
Prerequisite: Completion of Core French grade 9.
    The course consists of four main components: oral expression, oral comprehension, written expression and written comprehension.  Emphasis will be placed on the oral component.  Vocabulary, literature, grammar, composition, role playing and culture.

· Text:     En direct 1  (Units 1 and 2 & section 1 of unit 3)
 

· Assessment Methods:

1. Participation                10%   (oral communication & expression)
    Students are expected to communicate verbally in French.

2. Tests & Projects         30%    (tests & presentations)

3. Classwork                    30%   (assignments & homework checks)
    Notice will be given for written assignments, however homework checks will be done on a random basis.

4. Final Oral Exam          10%    (oral expression - last week of classes)

5. Final Written Exam     20%    (oral comprehension, written comprehension & expression - see exam schedule)
